Summary:

The RAGU RG-01 falls in the middle between a good and bad projector. It isn’t necessarily bad but it isn’t essentially good as well. Just like other budget projectors, it has its advantages and disadvantages. If you just want a $200 ($209.99 to be exact at time of writing) worth of projector, then this projector model has everything that you need. But if you want a quiet and versatile viewing experience in different lighting conditions, you are better off with a different projector.

You don’t need plush and reclining seats and a fancy and big projector to make your home into a cinema theatre.

A high-performing but budget-friendly projector, a cozy and welcoming ambiance, and great company can, in fact, make the whole home viewing experience unforgettable.

If you already have the last two things covered but not the projector, you may want to check RAGU RG-01 Video Projector.

Meet the RAGU RG-01 Projector

RAGU RG-01There are many budget projectors out in the market today. There are some which defies the negative connotation that cheap is inefficient while there are others that are simply a bad investment. The RAGU RG-01 is in the middle.

Design wise this projector sports a minimalistic yet modern style. Upfront, you will find the projector lens. The controls buttons are strategically placed on top while the power plug and connectivity options such as HDMI and USB are at the back. Right out of the box, you will have everything that you need to jumpstart your viewing pleasure. Aside from the projector itself, you will get a power adapter, remote control, AV cables and screws, HDMI cable, VGA cable, and a user manual.

Setting this projector is effortless and quick. You don’t even have to use the manual because it is basically a plug and play entertainment device. You will, however, spend more time on finding the best position. According to Ragu, the best projection distance is 2.5m but it’s a hit or miss measurement. You may want to invest on a longer extension cord if you don’ want the projector to fall off the table.

The Projection Quality

RAGU RG-01Luckily, this RAGU RG-01 projector model comes with a keystone function at the back so you can have an even and flat image projection.

If you hate watching movies and television series in low resolution, you will love this projector’s 1280 x 768 resolution. It can even support HP 1080P.

This projector comes with the latest LED technology so you can enjoy watching your favorite films and movies for 30,000 hours or more.

Multimedia Connection Options

RAGU RG-01Although there are some limitations in projection quality, you will be delighted to know that this RAGU projector model supports modern gadgets and devices. If you want to watch your favorite Netflix television show, you can conveniently connect it to your television or television box.

The projector comes with its own speaker but if you prefer to have an out-of-this world sound experience you can connect your Sony or Bose speaker. Just make sure that you have a 3.5mm cable connector. You can even heighten your gaming experience by connecting this projector with your laptop, personal computer or game console.

Other compatible multimedia devices are SD card, USB memory stick, smartphone, tablets and media player.

The Ugly

Despite the high-resolution projection, it is advisable to watch in dark condition. Its 2800 lumens can only project high-quality images in dimly lit rooms. This rating also means that it only works small to average-sized screen. If you are looking for a cinema size output, this RAGU RG-01 projector is definitely not for you. If you attempt to watch with the lights turned on, you will be disappointed. Your room’s lighting will overpower the projector, resulting to low video visibility. Even Ragu advises buyers to use this projector only for home entertainment use and not data presentations.

To compensate with its limited projection capabilities, users are provided three versatile projection methods. You can hung it in the ceiling or use it in standard front or rear positions.

Another issue with this projector is its loud fan. Its fan speed is entirely based on the heat of the projector. So if you will be using the projector for an extended period of time – about three hours or more, expect an annoying noise produced by the fan. Plus, you will have to wait for the fan to shut-off before unplugging the power cable of the projector.
