Summary:

The Microvision SHOWWX is called a Pico projector for a reason, it's seriously tiny. Perfect for the travellers among us, it also is no slouch when it comes to connectivity. Take it on the road, use it for business, or for projecting your many screens around the house, this unit is sure to please.

Introducing the Microvision SHOWWX mini projector, a seriously tiny format mini projector that will blow your socks off with it’s image quality.

Microvision is the enterprise behind some of the latest technology in Pico projectors with their beam-steering technology (thanks to their innovative MEMS scanning mirror and the PicoP display engine).

It’s this PicoP display engine that gives the SHOWWX it’s small form factor while maintaining a level of quality that puts some of it’s bigger sized competitors to shame.

Mini Projector Features

Microvision SHOWWX Laser Mini Projector This great little mini projector comes with a variety of connection options which we think is fantastic. Connectivity and options is what mini projectors are all about. Via the included HDMI cable you can use the projector with a wide range of devices that support HDMI video/tv out.

The included iPhone/iPad/iPod cable makes this reviewer give a giant thumbs up to Microvision. We love it, and it works great. There’s nothing better than having a sweet keynote on your iPad and being able to present that like a pro. It makes the business person in us drool with envy.

Using the PicoP display engine this projector affords us a great resolution of 848 x 480 pixels, more than enough even for a movie night. It also lets you project images up to 100″ (up to 254cm).

Microvision SHOWWX Laser Mini Projector Due to the laser display technology the image is also always in focus. No adjustments to make, just plug and go.

One downside is that the projector doesn’t come with a VGA cable included which means that if your laptop doesn’t have HDMI out (most new ones seem to), then you’re in the dark. We seriously recommend buying this accessory as some users have reported some glitchiness with HDMI output viewing some media.

This mini projector is also seriously light. Weighing less than a measly 1.6 pounds (< 750 grams) and at a size smaller than an iPhone this thing should be the definition of a mini projector.

Using this Mini Projector

We think the Microvision SHOWWX mini projector would be fantastic for those on the road a lot.

With it’s massive range of connectivity options and super small form factor it’s pretty hard to ignore when weighing up what mini projector would be best to use for mobile business presentations.

Pair it with a portable projector screen and you’ve got a mobile workshop for presenting any type of material from video to slideshows and keynotes.

Another great use case would be looking at using this mini projector for trade shows and displays. Due to it’s small size you’ll have a great interactive tool that will attract eyeballs to your stand while you demo things on your laptop or iPad. Pretty cool.

What comes in the box?

The projector comes with:

  • An iPod/iPhone/iPad cable
  • AC adapter
  • Rechargeable battery
  • USB cord (for charging via your computer)
  • HDMI video cable
  • A wrist strap
  • Soft storage bag
  • Quick start guide and product information guide

Recommended Extras

MicroVision SHOWWX VGA Adapter

VGA Adapter

As mentioned above, the VGA cable is not included with this mini projector but is probably worth acquiring if you plan to use an older PC/laptop with only a VGA output and no HDMI. Considering the price, it’s an add-on worth having. Click here for prices »

Where can you buy the MicroVision SHOWWX?

Expect to pay in the region of $350-400 depending on where you shop. We suggest checking out Amazon as they always have good deals.

  1. Is there a stand available for this and can you adjust the tilt so that you don’t have to pile ontop of books so get the right screen?
