Summary:

The 3M MPRO160 is great for gatherings where you want to watch a movie together or maybe even show some holiday snaps. It comes with a wad of accessories and is priced just right. Check it out.

No one likes to crowd around a tiny little screen trying to get a look at something. Someone always gets the raw deal with the viewing angles and ends up missing the whole show.

Now you don’t have that problem! Well you won’t if you buy the 3M MPRO160, the latest in a great line of mini projectors from 3M. The previous incarnations of these devices have all been well reviewed, so let’s see what this one is all about.

Mini Projector Features

3M MPro160 Pocket Projector The 3M MPRO160 projects a nice large and clear image at 800×600 resolution and features an adjustable focus, perfect for movie viewing or presenting in varied situations.

You can get a full 2 hours of battery light at maximum brightness which is amazing considering it’s size. It literally fits in the palm of your hand which makes it very versatile. You can chuck it in your bag and go.

The unit weighs just 10.6 ounces too (300 grams), so it won’t break your back like a regular office projector.

3M MPro160 Pocket Projector The main complaint I’ve heard so far about this projector is that the brightness isn’t high enough. But set it to maximum and you’re good to go. Projecting images up to 80″ (around 2m) it’s much better than cramming around a tiny little laptop screen when you’re trying to do a professional presentation. All you need is a flat surface. Very flexible.

I have to admit though, the sound from those tiny little speakers makes you wonder why they included them at all. It really isn’t that fantastic. In fact it’s probably unusable unless you’re in a quiet room, but luckily there is an audio out which means you can hook it up to external amplified speakers when audio is routed via projector by the attached device (usually happens when using HDMI or iPod connections).

Speaking of iPod, this mini projector does have an optional addon of an iPhone/iPad/iPod connector (cool!). Meaning if you have a Touch, iPhone or iPad you can project those devices nice and large for your audience which is what a lot of people are doing these days instead of lugging a laptop around.

The light source is LED and at 20,000 hours you don’t need to replace any bulbs or anything.

3M MPro160 Pocket Projector Using this Mini Projector

We think that using this mini projector is fantastic at those gatherings where you want to watch a movie together or maybe even show some holiday snaps.

As far as on the road goes, it’s nice and small and light and provides great large projection images. Just watch the lighting as ambient light does effect view-ability a little. It would also be nice if all the connectivity cables came with the device so you didn’t have to go around buying the extras you need.

The fact that it comes with a standard mounting point for the tripod is pretty cool. You can mount it on any standard tripod which makes it a great addon to your gadget toolkit.
